Something that’s awesome: Gray hair is now widely accepted as chic. But if you’re letting your natural strands come through, it can also take some getting used to. That means you’ll probably want to rethink your beauty routine and adjust your makeup to your new 'do. Here, four simple tips to keep in mind.
1
Focus on your brows
Eyebrows frame any face, but that becomes especially important with gray hair, which can make you look washed out pretty easily. We’re not saying to draw on cartoonishly dark or thick brows, but make sure to define them with a little brow powder to keep them looking sharp.
2
Highlight your cheeks
Now’s not the time to shy away from blush. Skipping color altogether might (again) make you look washed out, so be sure to brighten up with a touch of blush on the apples of your cheeks. (On top of that, ease up on the powder, which has the opposite effect of a little strategically applied blush.)
3
Line your eyes
When you have gray hair, one of the most important things you can do, makeup-wise, is to make your features pop. That means eyeliner is definitely a “do”--especially if it’s in a warm brown or navy.
Depending on your skin tone, you might want to stay away from black liners (which could contrast with your hair too aggressively)
4
Embrace a bold lip
Neutral colors have a tendency to make your face and hair all look one color--gray. Instead, go for bolder hues like berry or at least pink-y peach. Plus, haven't you always wanted to be Iris Apfel, anyway?
