Patriots to Release Safety Jabrill Peppers

By Myles Simmons

The New England Patriots are parting ways with veteran safety Jabrill Peppers, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Peppers, 29, joined New England in 2022 but has struggled to fit into the team’s new defensive system under head coach Mike Vrabel and defensive coordinator Terrell Williams. Though he has three years left on his contract — including $4.32 million guaranteed in 2025 — the Patriots are set to move on.

A former first-round pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2017, Peppers has played in 99 career games with 85 starts. Over that span, he’s tallied 35 passes defensed, seven interceptions, and 5.5 sacks.

While releasing him could open the door for trade discussions, Peppers’ contract makes a deal unlikely. Instead, the veteran safety is expected to hit the open market once New England finalizes the move.
